Remote Industry Solutions (RIS) is a Cairns-based company that is owned and operated by descendants of the Traditional Owners of Cairns and Port Douglas. Our vision is to strengthen community, family and culture by providing employment platforms and capacity building that empower future generations and create opportunities on our homelands. To help achieve this, we’ve assembled a team of professionals with extensive experience across a broad range of private industries and government agencies. From the Torres Strait Islands across the Top End and along the East and West Coast, we work in partnership with clients and communities to ensure sustainable outcomes that are locally driven and rewarding.

Company Directors Samantha Jensen and Vance Wallin lead RIS with purpose, grounded in community, culture and long-term economic opportunity. The focus is on Indigenous employment and development, offering specialised services at the highest standards.

EXPERIENCED, PROFESSIONAL TEAM BRINGING EXPERTISE AND INNOVATION

RIS was registered in 2018 as an Australian Proprietary Company. Its Directors and Company Leaders, Samantha Jensen and Vance Wallin, have over 45 years of combined experience, working to deliver service solutions to projects located across Northern Australia.

Samantha is an enterprising, demonstrative and customer-focused leader, with a proven history of building, guiding and retaining high-performance teams. Vance started Weipa Hire / Carpentaria Marine Services in 1994, which evolved to become known as Carpentaria Contracting and Carpentaria Marine Services. In 2025 the entities were separated, when Carpentaria Contracting was sold, enabling a focus on marine operations. Vance is widely recognised for his community commitment, giving in-kind services to remote communities. RIS has a powerhouse team of experienced professionals, with proven experience at successfully delivering projects on time, budget and with compliance.
